Say goodbye to Unreal Games and hello to Qismat Pty Ltd
After giving it a lot of thought, I decided that the company name Unreal Games Pty Ltd limited us too much to a set of services, and I was concerned that it might also appear somewhat amateurish to corporates considering us for Team Building or other events. ![]() Qismat shooting star logo We needed something that was available in ASIC and as a domain (.com preferably). Some of the names considered included "Unreal Events", "Unreal Entertainment", other Unreal derivatives, and many versions based on stars and cosmic events. "Cosmic Events" was another strong contender, but we still wanted something less product specific. I don't remember how, but I came across the word "kismet". Probably via an online Thesaurus searching on "fate". Kismet means "fate, fortune". It was unusual to me, both visually and in sound, but friends and family thought it was pretty good. And it grew on me quite a lot. But it was already taken when I checked properly. Damn. But luck was on my side, because it didn't take long to find an older Persian word "Qismat" from which "Kismet" came from. And yes, it was available and we grabbed it as quickly as we could. And there you have it. The new logo and company name came to be. |
